I am from the deep south of New Zealand and heard about Trailblazers through an invitation of a friend who knew a friend who had been on a trip before. I went into the unknown with Bel who was patient and supportive with encouragement to ask any crazy questions I needed to. This continued and I always felt part of the group and cared for by Bel, like a big sister watching over me, only I was older. Loved seeing the must do sights, they were all stand outs and also the time spent with locals, a great mixture. We extended our trip separately afterwards & Bel supported us with this as well. Due to our training with Trailblazers we managed solo not to badly. I am eyeing up my next trip already.

I briefly met Bel with her friends, during a Yoga retreat in the Blue Mountains and was impressed with her values, which she actions through Trailblazers Travel. Although keen to travel to India I needed assurance that I would be safe and would fit in with other members as a single, female. The booking process was easy. Bel patiently guided me through the India Visa application and planning, right down to what to take in my bag. I also extended the trip to include Sri Lanka. She was supportive from beginning to end and beyond.
The guides and tours in India and Sri Lanka were informative and extended experiences beyond expectations as they were flexibly responsive to the needs of the group. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and gave us the opportunity to meet locals. The food was fantastic and variable which means I am now obsessed with vegetarian Indian and Sri Lankan food.
Most of all I loved that we experienced the genuine culture and community of giving and the opportunity to meet and make new friends. My experience was both an inner and outer journey of transformation. Thank you Bel.
I had an amazing trip to India with Bel from Trailblazers in March! India is such a diverse, interesting country… and so great to Photograph. My favourite places were Jaipur and Varanasi. Tour highlight’s for me were the crazy rickshaw ride through old Delhi, learning and seeing rescued elephant’s at SOS, the fresh flower markets in Jaipur and the very spiritual and vibrant Varanasi 🙂
As a woman I was a little apprehensive about India, and had heard lots of stories, but I felt totally safe the whole time. Our Indian guides were so friendly and amazing.
I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to step outside of their comfort zone and expand their horizons, and I will definitely be going back! 🙂
Wow. Where to start! I wasn’t sure about doing India but my partner wanted to go on this trip and we’d been on 2 other trips with trailblazers and this was not a mistake! Bel does her research and does it well. We hit the ground running from day one and loved every minute. India will move you, take you out of your comfort zone in an amazing way. The people are so giving and beautiful. The people Bel use on her trips become family and friends. They open their homes and hearts to you. The places you visit are stunning and open your eyes to a whole new world. It changes you in a good way. I love how Trailblazers gives back to the community you are visiting.❤❤❤ A must do. Jump on board Trailblazers❤❤❤
A MUST DO, INDIA AND SRI LANKA….This is my 3rd trip with Trailblazers Travel and once again it has opened my eyes to the many wonders of this world that are not normally seen. Bel has put together another amazing tour, which has again pulled together old friends from previous tours. India is so full of colour and culture and the people are beautiful. The cities are spectacular along with the temples and the fortresses. Oh and the food is amazing, the real deal, not like the restaurants here at home. Sri Lanka, although so close to India is so different. A beautiful
country, the beaches stunning, the inland forests breathtaking and the people friendly and welcoming. And also the organisations that Trailblazers support. The elephant rescue at WildlifeSOS and the Foundation of Goodness were visited and it will pull at your heart strings and show you the goodness and tieless energy people use to make a small difference in this world.Highly recommended.
Trailblazers Travel has made my travel so easy. I was hesitant at first travelling to Sri Lanka with my daughter but my worries quickly dissipate. Bel is always helpful and quick to come back if we have questions. The itinerary is well thought out and while most of it is planned (which to us is important), there is room for us to explore and discover the areas on our own.
After much deliberation I am so glad I made the right decision and travelled with Trailblazers.
Africa had been on my radar for some time but overwhelming once I started looking for a tour, as there were so many companies to choose and not knowing where to start or who to trust, it all became too hard so I gave up.A friend told me about an ad she saw from Trailblazers Travel so I sent an enquiry off. Belinda was extremely helpful, we felt completely confident and we signed up. Never having done a group tour I wasn’t sure how I’d go, but as friends traveling together to Africa, we thought it would be better travelling with a small group. From the moment we met with the other people from the group, we knew we had made the right decision. The ages ranged from 40-70 and everyone got on so well, and from the first celebratory wine at the before takeoff, we knew we were in for a treat!
Wow, Africa – what can I say. So many thoughts race to mind and all my expectations were so far exceeded! It was refreshing to come from a place where we have so much, where we are so consumed with every day routines and where most people are losing the ability to think past ourselves, to land in Africa and see and feel the community and the coming together to mend old wounds. Africans are happy, smiling people with music and rhythm deep in their souls.
Africa is romantic but it’s also challenging. It’s compelling, it’s inspirational, it’s confronting and emotive but it is also life changing and beyond this, Africa will inspire you on all sorts of levels.
It’s something you don’t expect when embarking on a holiday but a new, positive outlook on life takes over you and consumes you in a way you didn’t know possible.
What I love about Africa is your eyes will be opened to new ways. Your body quiets and your mind settles. You relax, you see and you listen. But there are no words. It is in the behaviour of the animals that you will hear the unspoken word of forgiveness, family, self sacrifice, grace and justice.
Africa is enriching on so many levels and above all, the animals become the teachers and we become the student of life. Africa is a reconnection back to the land, to your ancestors, to yourself and to all the possibilities you have. It calls you in, it enriches your life and inspires you to greatness.
You must go at least once in your life. You won’t regret it!
I’ve had friends and family ask me, “What’s Africa really like? I mean, not the animals or scenery but the people. Are they happy? Isn’t it dangerous? Tell me what it’s really like, without the feel good commercial thrown in.”
Well you can’t really describe Africa without talking about the animals, the amazing red sunsets and sunrises, the lush green bushveld, the sweeping savannas, the pure beauty of it all. Oh, and the people! Africa has the friendliest people, always with smiles to greet you and a kind word.
When I was in Africa, I was happy. When I returned home, I suffered holiday depression and felt homesick for it. Africa was more a feeling than anything else and it gets in your blood. Once you’ve gone, and you get that feeling, you understand. Otherwise, it’s really hard to explain to people who’ve never been. It’s a life-changing place to visit. It changes you, for the better – that I promise.
Leaving out descriptions of animals and the scenery just isn’t possible. When you’re in Africa it’s as if your senses are heightened and everything is in 3D. So many colours, things to see, where to look and what is that smell?! You need to take your time, inhale the scents of animals, listen closely to the calls of nature and admire the beauty as much as possible. That way, Africa will become part of you and once you fall in love with it, you take it into your
being – that’s the effect Africa has on you once it’s in your soul.
So, for a place so spectacularly gorgeous, it’s difficult for me to adequately describe it verbally because so much of it is the emotions it invokes. There is no justice in the words.
I am a huge lover of life, of feeling free and for taking opportunities to enrich my life when they arise. You may think Africa is not for you – and it may very well not be. But if you ever have the opportunity to go, take it! Go with an open mind and let’s see if you don’t fall in love.
South Africa had always been a place that I had put off because I thought that it would be too expensive and, in any event, did we really want to go there? Fortunately for us the opportunity to go came along and the offer sounded so good just said yes and ran with it.
The trip that was totally organised, completely affordable and all we had to do was front up and it was all done for us. I now know what everyone goes on about when they rave about South Africa.
Wow, who would have thought that we would get to see so many different animals including the often talked about big 5. Apparently that doesn’t always happen and some tours don’t get to tick the big 5 off but we did, great planning and organisation by Trail Blazers! We just loved going out on safari, it didn’t matter how many times we saw lions, rhino’s, elephants or any of the animals that we got to see more than once, we always wanted to see more. It was always exciting to see them again. It may sound funny, but one of the ones that I really liked most was
the Hyena’s, but I had to wait until our very last day last day to see them.
We were lucky enough to meet incredible fun loving people on our trip; they were great company and just fun to be around. I hadn’t considered group tours before as I didn’t think that was my thing, but after going with the Trailblazers tour I wouldn’t hesitate to go again.
Going into some of the local communities like Soweto, was an extraordinary eye opener and gave us a deep appreciation of the struggles that the people of South Africa have been through. I’m so glad we were given the opportunity to learn so much more about the people. Cape Town was another wonderful place that I feel everyone should go and visit, we found it rounded the trip off
Trailblazers travel is amazing my trip with them to South Africa exceeded all my expectations. I loved every moment I totally recommend you do yourself a favour and book you next adventure with them.
Not normally one for group tours, or holidays, I decided South Africa would be better in numbers, so I went with Trailblazers Travel on an intimate, group holiday, of 12 for a 10 day adventure.
Well, I must say, it blew my mind. Not only was the group, some of the best people I’ve ever met, but the tours and itinerary was brilliant. Everything had been thought out, researched and included.. PLUS MORE! The country was spectacular and locals we met along the way, touched my heart in the best way possible. They were some of the most genuinely happy and authentic people in the world, completely accepting and excited to meet us and share a story. And, on top of that, the safari in Kruger, up close and personal with incredible animals – no words can
describe…it’s a must see!!!
Wish I could recommend Trailblazers Travel more highly than 5 Stars because they deserve it.
We had an amazing safari trip in South Africa with Trailblazers Australia in November 2016. Bel had everything well organised so all we had to do was enjoy ourselves. Kruger was a fantastic experience and the tours were great eye-openers – especially to Soweto. We will be travelling again with Trailblazers for sure.
Belinda from Trailblazers Travel organised a trip to remember. What an amazing experience we had going to South Africa. The organization of everything, what we got to see, the people we met, where we stayed and the people we went with. All 5 Star in our books. We can’t wait to do another trip with Trailblazers and recommend them most highly. The itinerary was perfect for us, not too rushed and an ideal amount of time in Kruger.
Anyone wanting a fun filled adventure just jump on a Trailblazers Travel trip. Cannot recommend them enough. Our trip to South Africa was amazing. Thank you!
What an amazing trip to South Africa with some amazing people, saw and experienced so much. Animals by the dozens, Elephants, Rhino, Buffalo, Lions, Cheetah, Leopard, Giraffe, Zebra and so many more
Scenery a must see to believe something so beautiful exists out there, met some amazing people travel companions as well as locals, would do it all over again if not for so many other places to be explored and experienced with Belinda’s wealth of knowledge to guides us – thanks a million Bel.
Bel has organised the most amazing trip of South Africa, Kruger National Park, for Kate and I. She is so well informed about what we are doing what we hope to see and we got to see everything. The accommodation was great and giving Trailblazers Travel a 5 is too little, I would have given it a 7/5. The only down side was we had to come home. I would definitely go again with Trailblazers Travel.
If you want to travel sustainably, safely and also give back to important projects that help people and contribute to wildlife conservation then you should check out Trailblazers Travel, they offer all of this and much more. Would definitely book another trip through them absolutely amazing knowing some of your money goes into these projects and carefree travel with the small touches that make a difference. Best experience ever.
I’ve just returned from a fantastic tour to Borneo and Kuala Lumpur with Trailblazers Travel. From home stays with the locals to beautiful accommodation at Sukau Rainforest Lodge and everything in between, I couldn’t have been happier! The itinerary was so well orchestrated with the right balance of structured time and free time. I would definitely recommend Trailblazers Travel for an affordable and fun holiday.
We love everything about Trailblazers, the people you meet, places we go, food we eat (constantly) and the sights we see. Bring on the next one!
Thank you Trailblazers, for delivering a fabulous guided tour of Incredible India. This was my second trip to India and knowing how challenging this Beautiful Country can be, it was wonderful to experience such a relaxed and carefree journey. To be in the company of like-minded travellers, revelling in the colour of India.
Bel, you certainly delivered some pleasant surprises, from the friendly family orientated accommodation and food experiences, with yoga sessions thrown into the mix. To the boat ride of a lifetime in Varanasi serenaded by two camel eyed musicians playing guitar and flute. Your thoughtfulness and attention to detail ensured that we all had the best experiences possible.
I definitely recommend Trailblazers to anyone wanting a unique, well organised adventure of a lifetime with friendly company and stress free travel.
Bel’s planning was excellent and everything ran like clockwork – no fuss and no stress. We were met at each airport and transferred to our accommodations which were all very good without being stuffy or overpriced. All the guides from Borneo were very knowledgeable and helpful.
Just returned from Trailblazers’ inaugural tour to Borneo. We had a fantastic time with a great mix of cultural and environmental experiences. We released 2 day old turtles into the sea, saw Orangutans, Sun Bears, Proboscis Monkeys, Pygmy Elephants and a host of birds. We got to stay with a local family and experience some of their life-style, culture and food. And then there was shopping and eating in Kuala Lumpur.
Goes without saying, if people keep going with Trailblazers than it must be good and it is!
This is our second trip with Bel and Trailblazers. Again an awesome trip to Borneo and Kuala Lumpur. This trip brought back 7 other Trailblazers from an earlier tour which goes to show that the tours are the type of tours where friends are made and keep coming back, not only to re-kindle their friendship but knowing that Bel’s tours, although economically appealing are also benefiting the local people. Giving back is the way to go.
Great small travel groups with interesting activities and community support.
Yes this time it was India, once again not on the top of my bucket list of places to go, but how can I resist Trailblazers trips on offer. This time I was lucky enough to have some extra friends along as well as friends we made on previous trips.
If you are after a luxury holiday, don’t look here. But if you are after a great holiday where you get to meet locals, live with locals and even cook with locals, visit an elephant sanctuary, this is the holiday for you.
A holiday that is well organised, well supported with local guides who you can’t help falling a little in love with as they are so knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. From our wonderful bus driver to his assistant and then the guides themselves, they end up becoming your friend. I found this trip totally absorbing and interesting, and very colourful. We got to share in the wonderful Holi, colour festival….such a fun time to go to India. Not forgetting the Taj Mahal and Varanasi, so different but so beautiful. Varanasi (the Ganges) experience is one I’ll never forget as there was so many different things happening all the time. I love that Belinda from Trailblazers is always so happy to give back to the local communities that we visit. A very different kind of holiday for sure.
