Trailblazers Travel is a social enterprise with the vision to create authentic, culturally immersive holidays teamed with our passion for giving, to alleviate world poverty via a socially conscious business.

The Lunchbox Fund has been feeding orphaned and at-risk school children since 2005.

  • School feeding programmes increase levels of school enrolment, daily attendance and retention.
  • They alleviate hunger and improve concentration – even among children who are not malnourished.
  • For children under 6 years, school nutrition support offers the possibility of reversed stunting as well as improved learning outcomes for the rest of their school lives.

Every guest who travels with Trailblazers Travel will feed one child a meal every single school day for an entire year!

Trailblazers Travel is a regular donor to the Lunchbox Fund >

After visiting Borneo and seeing the horrific destruction to their precious wildlife’s habitat, I shared an idea to start a campaign to buy back corridors of land that allow the wildlife to transit between oil plantations and farmlands to their pockets of forests they call home.

An email was sent to Albert Teo, the founder of a nonprofit called BEST Society in Borneo, who agreed it was a possibility and one he’d thought of himself. That email started a chain reaction, and because of Albert’s tireless work, his nonprofit has now secured a 7.7 acre parcel of land to be held for conservation.

We are raising funds to help purchase this piece of 7.7 acres of forested land in Sukau under NGO, Borneo Ecotourism Solutions and Technologies (BEST) Society as part of our contribution towards increasing habitat for wildlife including the Borneo pygmy elephants, orangutans, sun bears, exotic birds and other various wildlife.

The Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary is a 30,000 ha sanctuary separated into 10 parcels scattered throughout the Kinabatangan River system. With increasing deforestation of land owned by private landowners outside sanctuary and the continuing increase in elephant population, there is increasing need for protection for elephant habitat and wildlife.

This 7.7 acres land, though it is not big is a start on the process to increase the awareness on the threat to the very fragile situation to elephant migration and its constant threat to local farmers whose crops are invaded by elephants.

The future plan is to start and build a research centre to protect the wildlife and biodiversity of the area and the sustainable development of ecotourism which is providing many jobs for the local community.

We give back through a proven crowdfunding business model. It also allows our guests to use their travel as a force for good. Through Kiva, one of the world’s largest and best-run microfinance organizations, we are empowering entrepreneurs, families and entire communities.

Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva has successfully facilitated over 500 million dollars of loans with a 99% repayment rate.

Proceeds from every travel itinerary sold are loaned to support entrepreneurs in poverty. So literally, holidaying with us can start multiple startups around the world.  And that is how your travel, and our business, is empowering those less advantaged and giving them a helping hand out of poverty.

When you travel with us, you don’t take from the world, you give back!

Empower the underprivileged, change lives and create hope.

To work with locals in the countries we visit, to create adventures that change the world. To connect people and places, and ensure that each interaction leaves them both better than when we found them.

To empower those less privileged, giving them an opportunity to create sustainable lifestyles by promoting only responsible travel partners who connect and work with locals, use small-scale or locally owned lodgings and show a deep respect for people who live in the places visited and engage with them in a dignified way.

Our aim is to improve the way money is distributed from travel, essentially fighting financial inequality and giving those less privileged, an opportunity to rise from enduring poverty.

Offer lovers of travel a new way to travel, immerse in new adventures, engaging experiences, real connections and ethical sustainable travel where everyone benefits. Allowing the traveller the opportunity to make a difference in the world and choose the impact their travel makes.

Empower All: Offer our travellers inspiring and immersive holidays that allow them to use their travel as a force for good, bring positive change and give them the opportunity to empower people, wildlife and the environment.

Make Decisions Based on Ethics: Align with those who create with the same values and morals of making the world a better place for all future generations. Show a deep respect to all inside and outside our business and for the communities in which they live.

Change People’s Lives: Holidays offered will be created sustainably and responsibly to ensure the income derived from travel, stays local and makes a difference in the lives of families, communities, the country and the world as a whole.

In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030.

Our governments have a plan to save our planet…it’s our job to make sure they stick to it.

The Global Goals are only going to work if we fight for them and you can’t fight for your rights if you don’t know what they are. We believe the Goals are only going to be completed if we can make them famous.

Global Goals for Sustainable Development
